The ceremony of laying a stone at the corner of the National Stadium is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The new stadium was going to be built in place of the old stadium, which had been an important element of Warsaw’s landscape and the source of many precious memories and emotions. The event had to reflect that fact.
The guests of honour present at the ceremony included representatives of the government, heads of churches, and foreign dignitaries. The foundation for laying the cornerstone was the existing part of the old stadium. The cases embedded during the event contained a Polish and European Union flags, the emblem of Warsaw, as well as children’s drawings and current issues of newspapers.
